Biography
Dr. Adebiyi holds DVM and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. As a visiting Fulbright Fellow at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, Ithaca, USA she investigated the role of adenosine receptor subtypes in regulating the differentiation, migration, and maturation of oligodendrocytes in models of multiple sclerosis under Dr Margaret Bynoe. Also, she explored how neuronal activity modulates the differentiation and migration of oligodendrocyte precursor cells following demyelination as a BrainsCAN Tier I Postdoctoral Associate at the Translational Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, Western University, London, Ontario (under Drs Tim Bussey, Lisa Saskida & Ravi Menon).
Before venturing into neuroscience research, she practiced as a veterinary clinician of small and companion animals. She is a member of the Early Career Committee of the International Brain Research Organization, an affiliate of the African Academy of Sciences amongst others. Olamide is passionate about expanding research interest in neuroscience for deserving and underrepresented groups.
Outside the lab, she enjoys hiking, sightseeing, and traveling.
